(item posted on 1st June 2006)
During 2005 the Office of Industry and Innovation held a competition, open
to all staff and students, to come up with a new name for iLecture (the name
had to be changed due to trademark restrictions). The winning entry was
'Lectopia' suggested by Rebecca Rey (FAHSS student), who combined the word
'lecture' with 'topia' (taken from the Greek 'topos' meaning 'place') to
signify 'a place of lectures'.
